How We Embrace Sustainability In St. Louis

As a part of the green industry as a landscape services provider, we believe that being as eco-friendly as possible is an important part of our company’s responsibilities and mission—not only to better represent our industry but to also better serve you, our valued client.

  • We installed energy-efficient solar panels on our main office building in June of 2014.
  • Our managers started using Ford Fusions in 2014 to save fuel. These vehicles get 25 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway. This is a huge improvement over the Ford F-150s our managers used to drive that received only 14 miles per gallon in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the highway.
  • Bluegrass employee using propane powered mowerBluegrass crews operate only propane-powered mowers since 2013. Propane is a clean-burning alternative to gas and diesel fuel. The mowers release up to 50% fewer greenhouse gas emissions and up to 80% fewer carbon monoxide than their gas and diesel counterparts. These mowers also require less equipment maintenance. Because propane burns cleaner, carbon deposits or particulate matter can’t contaminate the engine. This means fewer oil changes, longer engine life and improved productivity compared to gas and diesel mowers.
